Alta Vista Botanical Gardens invites kids and their families to Saturday Classes featuring hands-on activities, Incredible Edibles, conservation lessons, and tours of the Gardens.
Classes are included with Family Memberships
All others: Children $5, Adults $5
100% of fees go to Alta Vista Botanical Gardens – Children’s Garden.

Open 10 am to 3 pm
FREE event children’s nature activities, music and dance, plant sale, BBQ lunch for sale, vendors - 9 am Family Fun Walk for Earth Day
Adults will stay with their kids.
Class fee is $5 per person which includes entry and time to enjoy the Gardens till closing at 4:30 pm!
Class is FREE if family has a family membership. Grandparents who have family memberships may bring their grandkids.
If you would like to attend this class, you will need to PRE-REGISTER with Farmer Jones by noon on 2 days prior.

The Gardens are located at 1270 Vale Terrace Drive in Vista, at the top of the hill inside Brengle Terrace Park.

10 am to 12 Noon (unless otherwise noted)
- February 11 - Nature Photography - opening our eyes to nature’s beauty, even in winter! Bring a phone or camera and enjoy a walkabout with Farmer Jones
- March 11 - Soil, Composting, and Spring Planting - what are the different kinds of soil? How can we make soil by composting?
- April 22 - Earth Day Festival 10 am to 3 pm - FREE event children’s nature activities, music and dance, plant sale, BBQ lunch for sale, vendors - 9 am Family Fun Walk for Earth Day
- May - NO CLASS
- June 10 - Recycled Art – make creative projects using “saved” trash
- July 8 - Birds, Nests and Feathers – learn about our feathered friends and their special adaptations that help them survive
- August 12 - Water Is Wonderful - how do we use water? How can we save water? How can we have fun with water?
- September 9 - Making Music - what makes music work? Make instruments and march around the Garden with us
- October 14 - Fall Fun Festival 10 am to 3 pm - FREE event – scarecrow contest (make at home), children’s Fall activities, plant sale, vendors
- November 11 - The Magic of Autumn: Trees and Leaves - What do trees give us? What do leaves do? Why do leaves change color? What happens to leaves after they fall?
- December 9 - Stone Soup and Breadsticks – share the story, make the soup, and roll out breadsticks
