A Living Museum

The mission of a museum is to, “collect, preserve, interpret, and display objects of artistic, cultural, or scientific significance for the education of the public.”

Alta Vista Botanical Garden is no exception.

We offer a collection of beautiful and unusual plants thoughtfully displayed, alongside inspiring works of art created by local artists.

Here’s a look at three living museum exhibits.

The Australian Garden will impress and educate.

In this Garden you will find, beautifully displayed and tended, plants, trees and flowers native to the southern continent.

The plants have names straight from Down Under.

Playful red and orange Kangaroo paw.

Slivery leaves of Ruby Red Emu Bush

Climbing up the Garden poles are  geckos and snakes painted in the style of Aboriginal art by local artist Renata Carlson.

Renata also created an Australian Billabong, mimicking the curving pools and waterways formed by flooding rivers.
